If you missed our preview earlier tonight, next week’s new episode of Chicago Fire is going to kick off a two-part crossover event on NBC, one in which Cruz will be going undercover in order to determine if a firefighter (or firefighters) happen to be connected to a recent string robberies. Whatever happens in part 1 is going to carry over to part 2.

Below, the Chicago PD season 6 episode 15 synopsis gives you a little more information as to precisely what is coming up:

02/20/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : Second part of a crossover with “Chicago Fire”: Using information from Chicago Fire’s Cruz, Intelligence chases down the robbery crew that’s been using the lockbox key. Voight (Jason Beghe) is under pressure to bring the crew to justice without tarnishing the reputation of a murdered firefighter who might have been involved. TV-14 L, V

While this case is certainly unique, there is a part of it that may feel rather familiar to Voight. Just think about things this way — how many times is this guy tasked with finding a way in order to bring people to justice while also towing the political line? It’s been an enormous theme for much of this season and when the dust settles, it’s really hard to see that changing all that much moving into the future. Why in the world would it, when you consider some of what is going on with the Mayor election?

As for whether or not this will be the final crossover for this season, we wouldn’t be shocked if it is the last major one. Yet, in true Chicago PD fashion, we do think that there will be little instances of each show in the franchise using one or two actors here and there from some of the other shows. They all kind of operate under the same set of rules for that — they take whoever is available for a scene or two.
