Blue Bloods season 9 episode 15 video: Baez checks in on Danny
What’s happening here? The sneak peek is set at a local gas station, where Danny Reagan is following a shocking incident that took place while he was off-duty. A man tried to stab him and, as a result of that, Danny shot him. It’s a pretty cut-and-dry event, and based on what Baez tells Donnie Wahlberg’s character, it looks as though he is likely going to be cleared of any wrongdoing. Someone threatened his life and because of that, Danny acted accordingly. He basically acted out of self-defense, and certainly not because he had some sort of inherent desire to actually shoot the guy.
As this episode goes along, be prepared to see Danny continue to struggle with what happened, even if he does have the support of just about everyone around him. We know already that he will have the utmost support of Baez, and we certainly think that Jamie, Erin, Frank, Eddie, and Henry are all going to be in his corner — despite whatever disagreements they may have these people love each other and would do anything to help through tough times. This is a hard one for Danny; police shootings happen, but this episode (fittingly titled “Blues”) is a good reminder that cops do still think about things in the aftermath of them. It’s not as though the incident happens and then, in the aftermath of it, you just forget and move on. These are lives that are at stake and for any good cop, they should recognize that saving lives, rather than taking them, is of the utmost priority.
Expect a great Donnie Wahlberg performance in this episode, and we certainly do imagine that him raising his game is going to lead to some of the other cast members doing the same. That often happens with big, important episodes like this. Everyone recognizes that this is a chance to do something a little bit special.
