What story is more or less at the center of everything right now? Think in terms of Clary and the aftermath to what she went through at the end of the first part of the season. While we know that Katherine McNamara’s character will be back, the same cannot be said for almost everyone else … and there are going to be characters wrestling with a lot of emotions as a result of it. That includes Simon, who is the subject of the new sneak peek that CarterMatt has for you below.
In this video, you can see Maia do her best in order to encourage Simon to go outside and try to embrace at least some part of the world again, but he refuses. Why? Much of that is due to the fear he has that he will end up hurting someone else. He didn’t do anything to intentionally hurt Clary, but in his mind, she was caught in the crossfire. He may not act unless threatened, but he is worried about collateral damage. He doesn’t want to destroy anyone and because of that, he feels like being indoors is the best thing for everyone.
As for whether or not we really think that is the case, here’s the simple answer to that: No. It’s not, but this is something that Simon is going to need to figure out for himself. It’s not something that he’s going to discover without experience, and it may end up taking some time for him to feel comfortable. The most valuable thing that he has is a support system — people around him, including Maya, who are going to be there to help hi find a way back to himself. They want to ensure that he is okay and will do just about everything that they can in order to fight for him along the way. He just needs to be able to let them.
