‘The X Factor’ USA: Sophie Tweed-Simmons previews bootcamp round

“The X Factor” has just wrapped up its audition rounds, and it is now moving on this week to what is the next important phase in the competition: putting the contestants through bootcamp. It is a difficult few days of high stress and intense performances, but by the time things are said and done, the judges decide on the performers that they want to bring to the judges’ houses stage of the competition.

So did one of the most famous performances at this stage of the competition end up advancing? At the moment, Sophie Tweed-Simmons is staying quiet on the subject other than telling TooFab that it was among the hardest weeks of her entire life. However, she did elaborate a little bit on the subject of why she decided to try out for this show to begin with:

“[I] just went in there to finally to do something for myself that my parents couldn’t help me with … It just felt really good to finally do something on my own.”

By and large, Gene Simmons’ daughter did get a strong vote of confidence from most of the judges for her performance, with the sole exception being L.A. Reid, who simply did not think that she was good enough yet. We do worry about how she will fare given the past history of other “celebrity” contestants on these shows (see Jane Carrey), especially since there are concerns from a production standpoint that they would have an enormous advantage if they advanced to the live shows over people who no one has ever heard from before. However, aren’t they deserving of making it if they are talented enough?

Do you think that Sophie has a shot at making it based on her first audition? Be sure to share your thoughts below.
