‘Bones’ review: Did you enjoy one of season 8’s bonus episodes?

If you were wondering why Monday night’s episode of “Bones” felt a little bit disconnected from just about everything else that we have seen on the show as of later, there’s a rather simple reason for it: it was meant to be this way. This episode, entitled “The Gunk in the Garage,” was actually one of the “bonus episodes” that was ordered by Fox last season. It wasn’t clear when it was going to actually end up airing, so they had to ensure that the story was something that would work no matter when it would air.

With all of this in mind, this was just a self-enclosed mystery that was pretty fun, even if some of the “twists” in the episode (Booth considering a move to a desk) really did not end up becoming much of anything at all … and neither did some of Booth and Brennan’s concerns about being able to get Christine just about everything that she wanted.

There’s actually not even really that much to say about this episode without going through a blow-by-blow recap, and if you watched it, you already know what happens. What really impressed us was just that this was an installment that was largely more of the “Bones” that we have come to know and love over the past few years. There was not any sort of heavy relationship drama, and there was plenty of humor involving body parts and guys following from the ceiling. It was just fun, and a pretty nice way to spend an hour on a Monday evening.

Did you enjoy this sort of throwback “Bones” episode?
