Grey’s Anatomy season 15 spoilers: Derek’s fourth sister being cast!

Grey’s Anatomy season 15 is finally set to tie together one of the biggest loose ends in the entire Shepherd family. After all, we’re going to have a chance to meet Derek’s fourth sister! We’ve seen some of his others over time — with, of course, Caterina Scorsone’s Amelia being present in just about every episode these days.

Now, we’re getting set to meet Kathleen, otherwise known as Kate, in some capacity moving forward. According to a report from TVLine, the ABC series is casting this character for the upcoming Amelia-centric hour set to air a little bit later this spring.

Some of the finer details about Kate are still unclear, other than the fact that she does have a career in medicine — to be specific, psychiatry.

We’ve long felt like eventually, this is a character who would be introduced given that there was more or less zero reason to leave her out of the equation. Why wouldn’t the show want to showcase her in some capacity? The largest question here is precisely how the character comes back, and what sort of role that she will have in the story at large. We feel like it could be emotional, and we want to get some more insight into why we haven’t actually seen her in the flesh before now.

This casting news comes via a deluge of other notable bits and pieces of casting info when it comes to the series. We’ve already reported that Jennifer Grey is going to be appearing on the show next week as one of Betty a.k.a. Brittany’s parents. Meanwhile, we also have Michelle Forbes of The Killing (and many more) coming on board in a role that could be Jo’s biological mother.

Given that there are a whopping 25 episodes of Grey’s Anatomy season 15 overall, that means that there are plenty of opportunities for some great stories coming up! It’s still crazy in some ways to imagine that we’re not even at the halfway point of the season so far; there are so many stories coming, and with that, hopefully a number of big surprises to go along with it.

All we know is that we want to see an exciting, surprising performer in the mix as a part of this family.
