This Is Us season 3 spoilers: Supergirl alum appearing in big Beth story

According to a report from Deadline, Supergirl alum Carl Lumbly will be appearing on the February 19 episode as Beth’s father Abe. This comes after the news that Phylicia Rashad was brought on board to play her mother. This episode is also going to introduce a younger version of Susan Kelechi Watson’s character, as well, who is being played by Akira Akbar and Rachel Naomi Hilson across two separate timelines. Clearly, there’s a lot of footage from Beth’s life that is going to be crammed into a single episode, which shouldn’t be too shocking given that this is also the sort of thing that we got from the Toby-centric episode a little bit earlier on in the season.
One other thing worth noting in regards to this big Beth episode is that there is going to be a title change for it, as well. Originally, this installment was going to be named “Bethany Clarke,” but that has now been shifted to “Our Little Island Girl.” Why the change? That’s a good question, since both may be applicable to the story in their own way and either is likely to have all that much of an impact on the story as a whole. The most important thing is that we understand better who Beth was from the past; otherwise, it’s going to be rather difficult to fully understand who she is going to be as we move forward into the future.
Remember now that the next new episode of This Is Us, entitled “Songbird Road: Part Two,” is going to be airing on Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. the primary goal of that installment is going to be offering up some sort of closure on what’s been happening as of late when it comes to Nicky. The Big Three will do their best in order to help him, but the reality here still remains that there is no guarantee that they will be able to. There’s a lot of water already under this bridge.
