Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 12 preview: Betty surprises Owen, Amelia

Next week on Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 12, you’re going to have a chance to revisit some stories that were left behind tonight. Because the focus was so much on Thatcher Grey and then Catherine Fox’s surgery, there wasn’t a whole lot of time for anything else — including the romantic lives of some of the characters. That will be changing on next week’s “Girlfriend in a Coma” (a weird title, all things considered).

A patient gives Meredith some clarity on her dating situation around the holidays. The strain on Bailey and Ben’s marriage comes to a head. Meanwhile, Betty drops a bomb on Owen and Amelia.

The first thing that is worth noting here is tied to the relationship of Bailey and Ben. It’s in such a weird place creatively right now, given that Station 19 is currently off the air. We’re not really able to see anything from the vantage point of Ben’s character and aren’t really getting to understand just how he feels about anything. That makes it difficult to get a full picture of their relationship, but hopefully that is something that will come soon enough.

As for Owen and Amelia, the bomb that is dropped on them feels like one of many in a minefield of problems these days. They’ve already had to try and deal with the big Teddy surprise and they’ve emerged through that; will they be able to tackle something else when it comes to Betty, and will this change anything when it comes to Owen and Amelia’s future? There’s always a cause for concern with these two.

Finally, we’d like to hope that this episode is the one where Meredith starts to make a choice … but we don’t want to get our hopes up too much when there is still so far that this season has left to go. This means that there is also room for her to change her mind if she decides between Link and DeLuca.
