‘Homeland’ season 2 spoilers: What’s next for Carrie and Brody?
On Sunday night, the show that started a sensation last year in “Homeland” is going to be back on Showtime with new episodes, and there is one question that we have to ask almost straight off the bat: can the show actually live up to expectations? This is a show that managed to not only keep us guessing throughout season 1, but it also has an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series to show for it.
The real key to “Homeland” continuing its greatness is going to be setting up a new game for its two leads in Carrie (Claire Danes) and Brody (Damian Lewis); luckily, co-creator Alex Gansa tells TV Guide that this is going to be a relationship that will be addressed almost straight out of the gate, even with Carrie having much of her memory wiped clean:
“We now know who Brody is, why he is what he is, and what he planned to do last season … We’re going to have to put Brody in another situation where he is pressure-cooked. And it opens up an entirely new possibility for how Carrie and Brody are going to relate to each other.”
Gansa also says that Carrie is going to have some “very difficult choices” to make by the end of the season, and one of the biggest issues here is whether or not she is going to be able to even learn from some of her mistakes last season. The cat-and-mouse game is raised to another level with Brody working within the government, and he is going to be so much harder to access, but also to take down.
