This Is Us season 3 episode 12 spoilers: ‘Songbird Road: Part Two’ details

There is no new episode of This Is Us tomorrow night on NBC, and we understand that this is going to make the wait for more all the more painful. Given the way that “Songbird Road: Part One” concluded, the desire to get part two was almost immediate. Just think in terms of where the story ended, coupled with where it could be going!

Entering this upcoming episode, what we know is rather simple: Nicky Pearson has been found, he’s alive, but he is also very unstable. At the time in which Kevin, Randall, and Kate came back for him, he was strongly considering taking his own life. Kevin doesn’t want to abandon him or just ignore him, which is what Jack clearly thought was best from so many years before. He’s going to try and help him get better, but can just a few weeks of doing this wash away several decades of isolation? It’s not clear what the past thirty-plus years were like for this character, given that he was so isolated from everything relating to his family and we haven’t had a chance to see what sort of friendships that he made in Bradford.

At least now we have a couple more details as to how NBC is describing part 2; CarterMatt has the official synopsis below:

02/05/2019 (09:00 PM – 10:01 PM) (Tuesday): Kevin attempts to help Nicky. Randall and Kate reflect on differing memories of their childhood.

The Randall/Kate part of this story is fascinating given that it will force these two characters to really think back and reconcile the relationship that they had with their father. We know that in the eyes of Kate especially, Jack could do no wrong. It’s probably going to be very difficult on her knowing that he kept this part of his life from her and the rest of the family for so many years, especially when he did so much to present himself as this perfect family man. While he and Randall may have had a great relationship of their own, it was a different dynamic. The perception was different and Randall was always a little more able to question Jack and see his flaws.
