Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 10 video: Why are Owen, Teddy fighting?

This latest sneak peek (via TV Guide) kicks things off with Teddy talking about her desire to stick around the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and work, which is something that Owen does seem to fully embrace and support. Yet, at the same time there’s another issue rolling around in his head — Teddy being around for weeks on end without ever telling him about the pregnancy. He’s still upset about that, but she also makes a good point with him in that when she arrived, it was in an extremely-difficult position where she saw Owen with his new family-of-sorts. It was hard for her to just proclaim the truth then, though she knew that she had to at some point.
We do think that Teddy should have told him sooner, but also Owen has a real habit of being overly ambivalent when it comes to what he wants out of relationships. When he and Teddy first slept together, he went to her mostly out of fear of being alone. While being with her is likely something he thought about with some regularity over the years, it wasn’t necessarily something he had ever confirmed as what he wanted in his mind. Now, with Amelia, the two have existed in this weird situation where they aren’t officially together in a clearly-definable way, but they absolutely have feelings that are clear to anyone around them.
This is where things go from bad to worse. Owen refers to the timing of Teddy’s arrival as a “crap situation,” but Amelia walks in at a time in which she only hears this in relation to her and the relationship that they have. It’s a poor choice of words to start out with, but the moment that Amelia hears this it’s pretty clear that Owen is going to have to deal with so much more damage control than he expected. A big part of this episode for him could be navigating some of these waters and it’s not going to be easy.
