Poldark season 5 filming starts to wrap up for some behind the scenes

Poldark

Poldark season 5 may not be premiering until later this year on the BBC or PBS, but it is clearly time to start getting sentimental now. After all, we’re in the final days of filming for the show and some cast members have already wrapped production.

In a post on Instagram, it’s officially been confirmed that Beatie Edney (Prudie) is now done with production and that yesterday was her last day. Check out her message below, and also a rather wonderful image from Gabriella Wilde (Caroline). Filming is going to be winding down for everyone before long, and these final days are a stellar culmination of a lot of hard work from a number of different people. Poldark is a show that had a lot of high expectations and we think that it’s met many of them. It’s done its best to honor the source material while at the same time finding enough room and space in order to have a voice of its own. Sometimes, it can be quite hard to balance that and keep both book readers and television watchers both happy, but they have done a great job here over the years.

The fifth season started filming in the late summer, and it shouldn’t be any shock that it is wrapping up now — this goes in line with when filming ended last year for season 4. At the center of the new season will likely be more battles, whether they be physical, financial, or political, over the future of Cornwall and the region at large. The rivalry between Ross (Aidan Turner) and George (Jack Farthing) is probably going to be more intense and vicious than ever — it’s really hard to fathom it being any other way, judging from the way in which this past season of the show ended with the death of Elizabeth. She was really the one person holding George back in order to ensure that things did not escalate with these two.

Be prepared to see Poldark return to the BBC most likely in the summer; meanwhile, it should return to PBS in the United States at some point this fall. That’s been the timeline for the series over the past couple of years and we don’t really see it changing now.
