America’s Got Talent: The Champions results: Did Jon Dorenbos, Darcy Oake advance?

We do think that there was a little bit of drama as the judges tried to figure this out tonight. Angelica Hale got the Golden Buzzer, and with that, she was for sure safe moving forward to the finale. Of the remaining performers, we thought going into the results that it would be between Paul Potts, Darcy Oake, Jon Dorenbos, and Samuel J. Comroe for who else got a chance to advance. While we think that Billy & Emily and Prince Poppycock are both super-talented, it definitely felt like they were just on a show with too much talent from start to finish.
Now, let’s get to the results, since the first one was a surprise! Billy & Emily did end up moving forward to the top three, and they were joined by none other than Paul Potts and then also Jon. Of this group, it felt like Paul was probably going to advance just on his overall body of work across two shows plus audience reaction — he’s got such an enormous fan base out there and he’s one of the best opera singers ever on the series!
In the end, Jon was actually eliminated in fourth (somewhat of a shock) and Paul is officially in to the finale. He definitely deserves this, especially since we think there’s a good chance that he will win when the dust settles. We also are going to see what may be the ultimate showdown to end all showdowns: Paul vs. Susan Boyle, two of the most-popular Britain’s Got Talent acts of all time when it comes to media buzz and performance quality. Susan’s probably the favorite, but Paul did a good job tonight reminding us of everything that he’s capable of bringing to the table.
