Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 episode 3: Jake & Gina’s high school reunion

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Next week, Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 episode 3 is going to take on the past, but in a rather-different way than what you saw tonight.

What’s the focus going to be this time around? Think along the lines of Jake and Gina’s high school reunion, an opportunity to actually see them revisit some people from their past. We’ve heard over the years with this show various tales about their exploits, and the fact that the writers gave these characters such a lengthy history is part of the fun. It’s fairly rare that you see that for virtually any workplace comedy.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6 episode 3 synopsis with more news on what’s next:

01/24/2019 (09:00PM – 09:30PM) (Thursday) : Jake and Gina attend their 20th high school reunion. Back at the Nine-Nine, Charles helps Rosa with her love life.

The story of Rosa’s love life should prove to be fun, especially if the show does find a way to bring Gina Rodriguez back at some point in the future. As it is, though, there’s still quite a bit to like here just because 1) Charles and Rosa remain complete polar opposites and 2) vulnerable Rosa is always one of the best versions of Rosa.

In going back to Jake and Gina for a moment, though, another thing that does need to be considered entering this episode is that we’re on somewhat of an accelerated timeline with Chelsea Peretti given that she’s leaving at some point this season. You have to really make the most of the character however long that she is around and a good way of doing so is throwing her into this environment. As a matter of fact, you can argue that putting Gina in a high-school reunion sort of setting is a great way to bring about a story where she does eventually leave. Think of things this way: Being around some of these people may cause her to think about her own future and whether or not she’s fully happy with it.

Whenever Gina does leave, we do remain 100% confident that she will find a way to continue to be a part of the world, even if you don’t see her on-screen. We also think it’s possible that she could return for a milestone episode or something more down the line, depending of course on however long this show continues to be on the air. We’re hoping for at least one more season after going through all of the renewal anxiety this time around.
