Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 11 spoilers: Can Amelia, Koracick help Catherine?

There’s one thing that we already know we appreciate about Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 11, and that is the title. How can we not? We’re talking here about “The Winner Takes It All,” which is one of the best songs by ABBA out there. This is a title that conveys a sense of urgency and high stakes, and that may be pretty appropriate for what lies ahead based on some of the information that we’re getting.

Amelia and Koracick tackle a daunting surgery on Catherine; Richard urges Meredith to visit her father before his time is up.

It does feel like this episode is the right time for the series to start to take the subject of Catherine’s condition super-seriously, mostly because it does feel as though they did a delicate dance around it at the end of the first part of the season. While there was a recognition that her life was on the life, it didn’t feel like we got a full scope of the plan of attack or how some of the doctors were coping with it yet. There’s a lot to unpack here emotionally, and we’re also fond of getting to see Amelia and Koracick team up in order to help ensure that this surgery is a success. (Side note: How is it that Greg Germann is not a series regular just yet? It continues to make no sense given how good this character is.)

As for the Meredith storyline, it does appear as though we’re inching closer to the return of Thatcher to the show. We’ve known for a good while that Jeff Perry would be returning to the series in some shape or form this season, but the writers have really taken their time in order to bring us to the point where we get to actually see it. It’s been so long since we last had Perry on the series that it’s almost shocking to sit down and actually think about everything that Thatcher needs to be updated on!
