The Cool Kids episode 12 return date: The story of ‘Margaret Jr.’
Following tonight’s new episode on Fox, you’re going to have to wait a little while in order to see what’s going to be coming up next on the comedy series … but not too long! The next installment is going to come on the air on Friday, February 1 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern — basically, the same night that Last Man Standing comes back. There’s little to no reason for the Martin Mull series to come back before then, as it’s pretty clear at this point that the two shows compliment each other perfectly. Part of the reason why The Cool Kids was picked up in the first place is because the two shows apparently looked like a good fit and that’s proven to be true. Its ratings are solid (in part due to its lead-in) and it feels like a lock for a season 2 renewal. The best way to keep that momentum going is to keep airing the shows as a one-hour block.

For everyone wanting to know some cool guest-star news, Mary Elizabeth Ellis is going to be playing MJ in this episode — you probably know her from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (where she plays the iconic Waitress) or from Santa Clarita Diet as Lisa. This should be a chance to do something a little bit different for her, and in a fun sandbox environment with a lot of really funny people who have the perfect venue for them. A part of the fun of The Cool Kids is getting to see performers like Mull and David Alan Grier get some prominent material after years of doing guest spots. It feels like this show is giving them a chance to be back in the driver’s seat and have a lot of fun along the way.
