Unfortunately, there is no new episode coming to CBS next week — or, the week after, for that matter. Blue Bloods tends to operate with a few more hiatuses during the season than Hawaii Five-0, with one of the biggest reasons for that being that it tends to do fewer episodes — only 22 episodes typically. Next week, interestingly enough, is actually going to be the first time this season that there are new episodes of Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver without a new Blue Bloods accompanying them.
So when will season 9 episode 13 actually air? We know that the title for this episode is “Ripple Effect,” and while unconfirmed at present by CBS, all signs point towards a return on Friday, February 1. For starters, there’s a precedent for this from past seasons. Also, this is the first Friday of February sweeps and do you really think that CBS is going to keep its longest-running Friday show off of the air? Rest assured that there are multiple episodes coming this February. There’s going to be a real effort to take advantage of some of the ratings and beyond that, CBS has to get episodes on the air then because of the annual NCAA Tournament hiatus in March.
So what do we want to see? At the top of our wishlist is a return by Lou Diamond Phillips as Delgado, mostly because this is the time when the Blue Bloods producers should really be unleashing some of their best stories upon us. Beyond that, we’d also like to see some more movement on Jamie and Eddie’s storyline and also potentially see something big for Henry or one of the other supporting characters. Blue Bloods can stick with its format, one that’s clearly been very successful, but why not go big in February and take some risks? Why not get some people talking about the show who aren’t aware of it?
When will more details be revealed?
We’d expect them to come out over the next week or two, mostly because CBS isn’t going to want to keep it under-wraps forever. Once that info is out there, we’ll have both a new article and video for you to enjoy.
