Outlander season 4: Five things we want to see by finale’s end

Let’s face it: There are a lot of major events that are supposed to still come in the event the show follows the fourth book Drums of Autumn. Inevitably, not everything will probably make it in, but we’re not viewing things through the lens of the book in this article anyway. Instead, we’re trying to think in terms of what has transpired on the show and some of what we feel to be essential in order for the series to tell the strongest story possible.
Jamie, Claire, and Ian meet the Mohawk – We’re seeing the three on a journey to find Roger at the moment and with that, we do want to imagine that they get somewhere with this by the end. If the rest of the season is just spent watching these three characters wander around, that wouldn’t be the most exciting thing in the world.
The course of the Regulator storyline – Is Murtagh safe for the immediate future, or is he going to have to figure out some other way to move forward without being in fear of his life? We’ve seen the buildup of this story through most of the past several weeks, but it still feels like the worst for Murtagh is still to come.
Justice for Brianna – Even if Stephen Bonnet survives the season, it’s going to be quite the bummer if this show’s signature villain is somehow still out there, roaming around free and doing horrible things to other people at the end of the season. There needs to be a path towards tracking him down, which Murtagh at the moment seems on the road to doing.
Brianna gives birth – Given how much time seems to be passing at the moment from one episode to the next, it’s reasonable to think that this could happen come the end of the finale. Plus, given where Roger, Jamie, and Claire all are at the moment, are any of them going to make it back to her before the baby is born? If we are gearing up for another reunion this season, it seems as though a new arrival is going to be a part of the story somehow.
A Roger – Brianna reunion – While there may not be a guarantee of happiness for them down the line, we do think that we’ve earned some sort of proper reunion by the time we make it to the end of this season. These two have been through so much away from each other, and they really haven’t had all that much time to figure out their relationship together. We’re getting close to the perfect time for it to happen.
