We know on the surface what the story for Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian is going to be: A search for the Mohawk tribe that supposedly has Roger in its possession. We know that these three are rather-exceptional when it comes to their knowledge of the land, but they’ve got a tall order in front of them in trying to catch up to people who are more than a week ahead of them. Eventually, this band of Native Americans is going to make it to their home — the promo for this episode suggests that these people live near a place called Shadow Lake.
What this photo above featuring Claire shows is that we’re going to see her trying to do whatever she can in order to make use of the resources that she has. That of course includes water; as we’ve seen (rather unfortunately) this season, some people get a little territorial about their water.
Meanwhile, this photo of Jamie suggests that he is in the position of hunter and that he’s going to have to do whatever he can in order to find food for the group while they are out on the road. It’s a challenge for them, since they’re going to have to take advantage of food basically when they see it, rather than actively going out and seeking it. They’re not going to have a lot of time to search if they want to make their goal of catching up!
What you do have to wonder in the midst of these characters’ search, though, is whether or not they’ll ever get a good sense that Roger is not with them anymore. Because of Roger’s escape at the end of this past episode, he’s not with the Mohawk anymore — he may not even be in the past anymore judging from what he found when it comes to the standing stones. His decision greatly informs the decisions of others, though there is another interesting component to this story, as well — the possibility that the Mohawk do end up finding Roger again. If this happens, it seems as though little was accomplished with his escape. Yet, he would have at least bought Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian some time in their pursuit. (Of course, it’s possible that Roger could be punished for his escape.)
