America's Got Talent: The Champions

Who’s going to be on America’s Got Talent: The Champions episode 2? We’re going to be talking all about the lineup in this piece!

What we do like about this group is that there is some parity among the field — while we feel really confident about one particular act advancing, there are several other in the nine who’ve got a reasonably good chance, including a dog act, a magician, a knife-throwing act, and more.

Darci Lynne – She’s going to be the favorite of this group and potentially a favorite to win the whole competition, given that what she does with the singing and ventriloquism is so different — Terry Fator is the only other person that we know to do it, and he’s not a part of the show this season.

Taylor Williamson – Even if he doesn’t win, we’re just glad that he’s back so that he and Heidi Klum can continue their love / hate / whatever-it-is relationship. He’s really the one who first started the trend of Heidi being the mean judge for comedians on this show — she was hard on him but over time, he won her over.

Courtney Hadwin – The singer / rocker recently signed a record deal and we think that she has a bright future; yet, she didn’t perform as well as we thought she would in the finale for last season. As we saw last season, it’s really going to all about finding the right song for her more so than anything else.

Piff the Magic Dragon – Piff is awesome. He’s an incredibly magician, but beyond that has such funny and unique shtick. The Golden Buzzer moment that he had with Neil Patrick Harris is probably still one of our favorite moments of its kind on the show. He’s a sleeper depending on what he does.

Light Balance – A former Golden Buzzer pick from (possibly former) host Tyra Banks, these guys are outstanding at unique concepts and presenting a colorful visual palette for their performances. We hope that this is another opportunity to see something similar from them.

Viktor Kee – A sensational juggler with a visual style complete his own. This is the least-hokey juggling performance that you will ever see — he actually finds a way to make this into a visually-stunning art form.

Deadly Games – This knife-throwing act is one of the best of its kind all over the world — it is intense, it is dramatic, and we love the added showmanship here so it doesn’t just feel like the same thing that you’ve seen with other acts over the years. They’re likely underdogs in this competition, but these are the acts that we really watch the show for — ones you can’t see anywhere else.

Ashleigh & Sully – Ashleigh Butler first won Britain’s Got Talent back in 2012 with her dog Pudsey, and the two went on to become somewhat of a nationwide sensation there. This is the act that really opened the door for more solo dog-trainer acts out there, including Sara & Hero on America’s Got Talent. Pudsey sadly passed away back in 2017, so she will be performing on this show with a different dog in Sully.

Cristina Ramos – She is a former winner of the Spanish version of the show and what she does is truly unique. Odds are, you’ve heard about rock operas. Yet, what she does is combine both rock and opera in a way that is really unique. We’ll see how this translates to America, given that Justice Crew (the only international act from the premiere not well-known in America) didn’t exactly have rave reviews.

DDF Crew – They are a jump-rope / dance crew act that won the Danish version of the show previously. They’re extremely talented and very-much unique from everyone else on the series. We just think that most of these international acts are going to have trouble since there’s no real following for them here in the States.

As of right now, we’d say that Darci is a huge favorite and the second spot could be between Piff, Courtney, Taylor, Ashleigh & Sully, and Cristina … but we’ll see just what happens.
