For the sake of this article, we are taking a look at things through the lens of both the present and the future. Let’s begin here with Richard Rankin — if you are curious in getting a lot of interesting behind-the-scenes dish on this season and some of his work, the man behind Roger did a delightful Twitter Q&A this morning where he touched on a variety of different subjects.
Take, for example, his discussion of some of the wounds that his character had while traversing through the woods as a prisoner of the Mohawk tribe. The makeup work here was top-notch as they had to mirror his suffering in some interesting ways.
Meanwhile, Rankin also did touch on the polarizing nature of his character at times — we do agree with his assessment here by and large. His character has made some critical mistakes and been overly judgmental / temperamental, but he does love Brianna — he just needs to grow and see things from other vantage points. Hopefully everything that he has been through will enable him to have this opportunity to show more of a different side, in the event that he and Brianna do end up getting back together.
For some more behind-the-scenes insight on season 4 episode 10, check out a video below featuring executive producer Matthew B. Roberts at Sony’s official Twitter account. We love that he and the other producers have been so generous with their time talking about the show, even while the earliest of work is beginning on season 5. Writers have been hard at work for a few months now (CarterMatt co-founder Jessica’s cousin is on the Outlander writing staff!) and production starts next month.
As for a finale tease…
Of course, it’s hard to get much in the way of definite scoop from the powers-that-be on this subject, but in a new interview with PopSugar, Maril Davis had to say:
“I’m thrilled the way it all worked out … We certainly break out the season where we pull out the tentpole moments and want to make sure we hit everything, and I’m sure that we did that.”
We’re hearing that this is the biggest finale we’ve seen so far in the series, so consider that fair warning as we build towards that episode!
