Let’s refresh at the moment — at the end of the fall finale, Natalie found her wedding go down in flames over the Will Halstead – FBI fiasco. He didn’t tell her about Ray and the undercover operation and when he arrived at the ceremony, it was only to tell her that he was going to have to go into protective custody. We know that Will is going to return to the hospital. Yet, at the same time there are still questions out there. For example, things are not altogether clear as to what the status of Manstead is! That has to be something that Natalie has thought about.
Yet, that is not the focus of this particular sneak peek. This brings you the debut of Pretty Little Liars star Ian Harding (who worked alongside Torrey DeVitto on that show) as a man who comes into the hospital with his pregnant wife as she is dangerous close to giving birth. We say dangerously because the situation leads to her aneurysm rupturing — soon after that, she dies. Therefore, Harding’s character has to cope with the loss of someone he cares about deeply, while at the same time also figure out the right way in which to be a father. There is still hope for a baby, but Natalie is going to have to perform an emergency procedure to get them out. There’s nothing that he can do other than stand by and wait.
This episode is going to kick off a powerful arc for Harding on the show, one where he could form a bond with Natalie while hoping that his baby will make it through a tumultuous time in one piece. Natalie is an interesting person for him to bond with, mostly due to her own history dealing with grief and losing people that she cares about. Given the difficult position her personal life is in, maybe it will help her to find a way to give something to someone else. If nothing else, we’re excited to see where this particular arc takes the character.
