Outlander season 5 filming: What sort of updates should we expect?

It’s been a while since there were many updates out there about the series, which shouldn’t really surprise anyone given the fact that season 4 is airing. Starz, understandably, wants to ensure that the focus stays on the now rather than some of what could be coming at some point down the road.
Yet, at some point later this month that could change. Season 4 is ending and with that, season 5 will commence filming in just one month’s time. Production will likely take up a good chunk of the year, and there are some interesting questions when it comes to how Starz could promote it.
When it comes to season 4, we think that the network had an especially big challenge because season 3 was airing while season 4 was in production. Because of that, it was infinitely harder for the series to share information in fear of spoiling both season 3 and season 4. Now, at least one of those can be taken out of the equation. The same goes for a super-spoiler like Brianna going back to the past or her and Jamie meeting for the first time. We think that this opens up Starz to share a few more photos behind the scenes, some casting news, and some other odds and ends. They don’t have to worry about Fraser’s Ridge being shown off or Brianna in period wear.
Are there still going to be secrets? Certainly, but we expect the show will be a tad more public with some of their off-season promotion. Filming, however, is a slightly different story. While the show’s popularity has led to production / filming locations being more crowded, the flip side of that is that many of the Fraser’s Ridge scenes are filmed fairly far off the map, in places that are not necessarily hugely populated. It’s a little bit different searching for locations now and working there than it was back in the early seasons.
How much work has been done on season 5 already?
Quite a bit, actually! The writers have been working for months, and we’re sure that there has already been plenty of location scouting and planning. After all, there are so many things that have to be done here before the cast and the production career can even arrive.
