Chicago Fire season 7 spoilers: More scoop on the Casey cliffhanger

Chicago Fire

We’re not all that far away from Chicago Fire season 7 returning to the air and for those of you eager for answers, that’s a good thing. After all, the NBC show has many different stories that they need to address in between Stella and Severide, what’s going to happen with Brett and the Chaplain, and Chloe’s recovery after what happened in the fall finale.

Of course, then there is also the fire that happened at Matthew Casey’s apartment that had everyone screaming at the television. He and Naomi are both in grave danger when the series returns with new episodes and the primary order of business is the two getting out of this situation alive. Beyond that, the next one is then figuring out if there is a larger reason for what transpired here. Did someone intentionally work in order to cause this? That was the easy assumption to make after what happened, and it certainly seemed like there were people with a vendetta against him — most notably that trailer company that Naomi and Casey worked to take down.

While showrunner Derek Haas did not necessarily confirm that someone intentionally set the fire in a post on Twitter today, he strongly suggested that while noting that it was probably not an accident that the smoke alarms did not work. Someone specifically rigged it so that he wouldn’t be able to know about the fire until it was too late.

The good news for Casey here is that, provided he survives, he couldn’t have a better team around him to figure out the truth. After all, he’s got a skilled crew of firefighters all around him and beyond just that, he’s also got some very good contacts over at the Chicago PD. If there was one person more equipped than anyone to get to the bottom of this situation, it’s clearly going to be Matt Casey. It feels like that is something that you can absolutely count on.

Do we think Casey and Naomi are going to last?

That’s something that we’re a little more uncertain about for a number of reasons, with the primary one being that it’s still so soon for Casey. Is he really interested in getting back into the dating world right now, or was he just looking for some sort of validation? That’s something we’ll see pieced together in due time.
