According to a report from reliable casting source That Hashtag Show, the CW series is currently looking for an Asian male in his 20s-40s in order to play the role of Rampotatek, otherwise known as The Hat. (Preferably, the casting department wants someone with a British accent.) In the comics, this character is a member of Manchester Black’s group known as The Elite, whose morality has a tendency to oscillate depending on what’s going on at that given moment. They’ve fought on the side of good, but also been on the opposite side of things with some DC Comics heroes.

The show’s version of The Hat is described as being an “old pal” of Manchester’s, and to go along with that he has “charm, is quick with his wits and has a major love for alcohol and violence.” This will probably be a fairly-physical role, though we don’t have a sense as of yet as to if he will have powers similar to what he does within the comics. This character could recur through a later part of the season; the fact that he hasn’t been cast yet is a sign that he won’t be turning up immediately when Supergirl returns to the air in the new year.

The Hat is the second associate-of-sorts of Manchester’s to appear on the show, as Major Crimes alum Jessica Meraz has already been brought on board to play another notable character in Menagerie. Given what we saw from Manchester himself on the show in the first half of the season, there are so many directions that the series could go with this. There are also so many other balls that are still up in the air for the second part of this season, including the role Agent Liberty will have following his arrest and then also the status of Lex Luthor. While we know Jon Cryer is going to appear as the villain, the network’s being very tight-lipped on precisely how he will be involved in the story. Obviously, you have to assume that Lena Luthor will be involved somehow…
