Blue Bloods season 9 episode 11 photo: Why are Jamie, Eddie clashing?
The image above largely speaks for itself, but it’s also fairly-notable in that it features some sort of heated dispute between Jamie and Eddie. What are they arguing about? Based on some of the details that are out there at the moment, it could stem from Jamie’s desire to try to establish himself in a position of greater leadership — and also one that is separate from anything that Frank has going on at the NYPD. As it’s been made very clear at this point, Frank is top dog when it comes to all things NYPD. His decisions are extremely important and he has respect from all over the department.
Yet, Jamie wants to have respect of his own, and not just nepotism or feelings that he has to be liked because of who his father is. This dispute between the two could have a thing or two to do with something that is happening between Jamie and Frank, but knowing Eddie, she’s probably fighting for Jamie and in his corner … even if Jamie isn’t realizing it himself. this is something that we’ve seen from these characters a lot over time. Eddie does take a stand for Jamie and wants to ensure that he is cared for both at the precinct and even within his own family. She may just be trying to get him to realize that in the scene the photo is extracted from.
While we do see a lot of Jamko-related conflict on the show, the big thing to remember is that a lot of it comes from the two still working on the dynamics of their relationship … and also because they are just two strong-willed people who love each other. Sometimes, that love is worth fighting for even if it means fighting with your partner along the way. It’s just another big component to the relationship.
Ultimately, we’re curious to see how this story manifests itself in the end, and if Jamie gets precisely what he wants in independence. Just remember that this can come with many benefits, but also a cost at the same time. You never know precisely what the ripple effect to it could be.
