Legacies episode 7 (fall finale) reaction: Who is Seylah? A wide-ranging hour

Tonight, Legacies episode 7 — otherwise known as the fall finale — came on the air on The CW. This was as strange and as creepy an episode as we’ve seen so far this season, in particular when it comes to building out the story of the Necromancer — basically, the most notorious character that we’ve seen so far this season.

Much of the fall finale tonight was a journey through an odd dream / nightmare situation for Hope, one that forced her to confront many of her greatest fears and also some of the people who have been in her life over the years. This includes both of her parents — it would have been rather nice to see both Joseph Morgan and Phoebe Tonkin in some shape or form, but we’ll ultimately just take whatever we can get. This episode opened up some old wounds, even to the point where she didn’t wanted to listen to Alaric or anyone else. At one point, she went so far as to lock him up to keep him from stopping her.

What we ended up learning tonight that was especially valuable was that Klaus isn’t exactly on the other side — he’s watching over Hope, and he’s not going to be able to find peace until she does. With that in mind, at least we know that there’s a chance, right?

As for what else we saw in the fall finale, we had a chance to see a little bit of story that harkened back to the days of The Vampire Diaries — in particular rippers. Is MG on the verge of becoming one? This is something that was pondered over tonight, mostly because he showed some violent tendencies in an attempt to better understand himself. Rafael struggled with the concept of Remembrance Day, a time in which to look back at the fallen. Unfortunately, it’s a little bit hard to remember when the past is staring you square in the face.

The closing minutes

At the end of the story tonight, Hope was able to figure out that Landon Kirby was in some serious trouble and she wanted to, of course, do whatever she could to help him. (For those wondering, the photo featured Landon alongside his mother in Seylah.)

We do also know more about where the arc of this season is now going — Malivore is lurking behind the scenes and if he emerges, it’s going to mean some really bad news for a lot of different characters from top to bottom. We’ll see what happens in the new year.
