Now that Jack is for sure alive, it was clear in the early going of this particular episode that Sam and Dean’s focus was shifting a little bit. All of a sudden, their #1 priority is trying to figure out a way to solve their Michael problem, which at the moment is fairly massive and a little bit all-encompassing. Even if Dean is not serving as the host anymore, that doesn’t mean that the character is gone in the slightest. Michael has a new host and she’s turned out to be certain formidable. She doesn’t hold anything back and, as we saw through the episode tonight, she doesn’t have any problem taking on all of the various members of the cast at once.

The battle scene near the end of the episode was pretty awesome, especially when Michael gave her big soliloquy while Sam, Dean, Castien, and Jack watched on. Yet, she did make a problem here … mostly in that she wasted far too long in the midst of her monologue. This eventually led to the Winchesters getting somewhat of the upper hand … or at least they thought that they did.

At the end of the episode, that is where just about everything changed. For those of you who thought that the Michael – Dean twist at the start of the season was too short, you were correct. Michael eventually possessed Dean again at the end of the episode, and explained that one of the reasons why he abandoned him was because the character was too difficult for him to control.

Well, that may not be the case now. If we believe Michael’s (latest monologue) at the end of the episode, it now feels as though he’s back as Dean and, beyond just this, that he’s here to stay. He claims that he has more control than ever before of the character and with that in mind, he’s going to use it for just about virtually everything that he wants.  He has an army, he has influence, and this is definitely so much more of an intimidating Michael / Dean than at the start of the season.
