Obviously, the bad news is that coming out of tonight’s episode, there’s not going to be any more of the series for a while — and that is, in fact, a total bummer because we would’ve totally loved the opportunity to have more of the series to talk about throughout the remainder of the month. Unfortunately, that’s just not the way in which The CW likes to do things. They’ve got a fairly natural pattern of how they air new episodes and this is not something that they seem to be altogether inclined to change. Why in the world would they if they think that this works for them in terms of ratings? (Greedy as we are for new episodes, we do certainly understand the network’s desire to get the most bang for their ratings buck — they probably don’t want to run the risk that fewer people watch.)

Luckily, at least the wait for the second part of the season isn’t going to be too long — at least compared to some other hiatuses out there. New episodes of Supernatural are apparently going to be airing starting on Thursday, January 17. There will more than likely be a new run of episodes throughout the winter, and we certainly know that one of the most-notable ones is going to be the 300th episode. That’s a chance to see something big and celebratory, and also bring in Jeffrey Dean Morgan for the first time in many years as John Winchester. Everyone has been desperate to have this happen for a really long time now and we’re super-glad to see that it finally is.

What are the current season 15 renewal odds?

At the moment, we’re pretty optimistic. The ratings are still solid, and reducing the episode count to 20 this year may be the best thing for the show’s future in that it gives the cast a little bit more time off. That’s something that’s pretty hard to come by in this particular world when there are such long hours.
