House of the Dragon season 3 episode 3 run time: What to expect

On the other side of the July 4 holiday, you are going to have a chance to see House of the Dragon season 3 episode 3 arrive on Sunday. Are you ready for even more aftermath to unfold?

Based on what we saw at the conclusion to episode 2, it feels like there is one story that is going to stand out above all others: Rhaenyra sitting atop the Iron Throne. This is something that was telegraphed in part by Alicent, but that does not mean that all of the Greens are going to be on her side. Who knows how Aemond and Aegon are going to react to all of this? The easy thing to assume, at least at this point, is that there is going to be a lot more death in all directions.

So are we going to get another extended story full of action and drama? Well, for the time being, the simple answer is no. Per HBO’s current schedule, the next episode is slated to run for an hour and that’s it — and technically, it could be shorter.

Did it make sense for the first two episodes this season to be longer?

Absolutely! Not only was there so much story for the writers to work through, but you also have to consider that both episode 1 and 2 served frankly as a tie-in to the end of last season. This really feels like we are in a spot where the show will reset slightly, but still continue the forward momentum that it has. For the time being, let’s just cross our fingers that we are really going to be getting the best of both worlds.
