Is MacGyver new tonight on CBS? What lies ahead during season 3

MacGyver

Is MacGyver new tonight on CBS? Given Matty’s heartbreaking story on this past episode, we understand a desire to want Mac and the gang back on the air, sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, that’s just not going to be the case here. There is no new installment of the series on the air tonight, as last week’s episode was the fall finale and there are a lot of episodes that are being saved for the new year. There is some exciting stuff coming up in 2019 with this show, whether that be Mac and Jack going to Las Vegas and there potentially being a fun new case for Bozer, Riley, and Leanna. The series is returning on January 4 with new episodes, and you can preview some of what is coming up next just by heading over to the link here right now.

Of course, beyond just the next new episode there are a number of other things for the series to touch on. For starters, there is seeing how Matty Webber moves forward after learning that her husband Ethan has started over elsewhere with a new family. That is something that Meredith Eaton expressed some interest in exploring when we interviewed her last week and beyond just that, it’s important that we get some more development with this character.

Then, as mentioned earlier in this article, there’s the George Eads of it all. The reports are out there that he is leaving by the end of this season so at some point, MacGyver is going to find a way in which to write Jack Dalton out. Our feeling on this is that they start getting viewers used to the idea of Mac away from Jack now, that way whenever he does depart it becomes a little bit less jarring and everyone is more or less used to the change. It’s going to be strange not having him around, but given that this is apparently his decision, there’s nothing else that the show can do other than to try and move forward in order to ensure the best show possible … and we do hope that it does end up sticking around on the air for many more years.
