Game of Thrones reunion: One Stark family member was unable to attend

When the Game of Thrones full series set is eventually released down the road, you’re going to get a chance to see a reunion special! We know that Conan O’Brien previously traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland in order to interview many cast members past and present. The precisely list of cast members appearing has not been 100% confirmed as of yet, but we do know one person for sure who is not taking part.

Speaking via Entertainment Weekly, former star Richard Madden (who played Robb Stark on the first three seasons) made it clear that his schedule on the upcoming Rocketman made it impossible for him to stop by: “I didn’t do any of that … I was [filming] Rocketman so I wasn’t able to do that.”

Madden is certainly one of the more-successful former Game of Thrones cast members these days, given that he has leveraged playing Robb Stark into a starring role of Bodyguard in addition to some other film and TV roles. He was also recently named a Golden Globe nominee for best actor and he at least has a chance to represent his new show in California in the new year. There may be another season of Bodyguard also coming up at some point down the line, so that is absolutely something to keep your eyes peeled for moving forward.

For us, it is somewhat of a shame to see Madden not included in the reunion, mostly because he is certainly one of the more famous Game of Thrones alum to ever appear on the show. His death is certainly one for the history books, as the Red Wedding remains one of the most infamous events of the entire series.

As for when you’re going to actually see the Game of Thrones reunion, odds are it won’t be until the fall of 2019. We don’t imagine HBO wanting to release the full series set until around then — when it will, of course, make a perfect holiday gift. We imagine that one of the reasons why this reunion isn’t airing before then is simply because they want to ensure that there are some reasons for people to actually go out and buy this when they could otherwise just watch old Game of Thrones episodes on their DVR or on a streaming service like HBO NOW.

The final season of Game of Thrones is going to premiere at some point in April, and hopefully, we’ll have more news coming up on the subject leading up to it.
