Unfortunately, we come at the moment with some rather-sad news: There is no installment coming up on the series tonight and we don’t expect there to be one coming up for some time moving forward. What’s the reasoning for that? It’s really quite simple: NBC only has so many episodes of this show per season and with that in mind, they want to avoid the holiday season and save the rest of the episodes for the new year.
When This Is Us does return to NBC, it will be doing so on Tuesday, January 15 with new episodes. Not too long after that, we imagine that there are going to be a number of different storylines that the show almost immediately tries to take on. Take, for example, giving us a chance in order to see whether or not there is some truth to Nicky being alive in the present … and also located in Pennsylvania. He’s really been under everyone’s noses for most of the series’ run and with that in mind, there can now be a push to find him and, hopefully, understand everything that led to him being there. Beyond that, the writers can also explore a number of other super-important subjects, including precisely how much Jack actually knew about his brother following what happened in Vietnam.
So what else is there beyond that? Well, for starters, be prepared for the biggest episode of the series for Beth as we’re going to get a chance to dive into a little bit more backstory there. We may also get more story on Miguel and we figure that, at least before too long, we’re going to have a chance to learn in the future what is happening with Rebecca. Beth, Randall, and Tess are all getting together in order to do something with her, though it is not entirely clear what that is or what other members of the Pearson family are still actually out there. We hope that there are some happy moments, but we do also know from watching This Is Us over the years that they could be a lot of sadness.
