Chicago PD season 6 fall finale preview: Antonio’s downward spiral

Chicago PD season 6

Moving into Chicago PD and the season 6 fall finale airing on NBC Wednesday night, it’s fair to say that Antonio Dawson is facing one of the biggest struggles of his entire life. His prescription drug addiction is starting to become a scourge on his life, and to make matters worse, he’s not able to find a way to get it under control.

In a new sneak peek for the fall finale (which you can see over at ET Online), Antonio is struggling to get a grip on the world around him, especially when he learns that his doctor is not interested in giving him a refill for his oxycontin. He feels like Antonio’s shoulder has technically healed up, and if he continues to give him more, there’s a chance that he could end up losing his medical license. Given how much Antonio has struggled already when it comes to getting refills, he’s entering a point in which desperate times are going to lead to some very desperate measures.

In some of the promos already, you’ve likely seen what some of these desperate measures are, including Antonio finding himself on the other end of Burgess’ gun. What happens here could be tied to his addiction, and help to further set up what is going to be an especially painful scene that is rather hard for him to navigate. The more that we push forward into this story, the more troublesome things could end up becoming for him. Antonio has to want to help himself in order to get better, and just based on what we are seeing here alone, it doesn’t appear as though he’s got much of an interest in doing that.

This episode is going to be, hopefully, a reminder that sometimes it takes a village. Antonio has to realize that he cannot fight this on his own, and he also needs to realize that he is going to desperately need the support of others in order to actually improve. Don’t expect a full resolution to every story within this episode … but that is all that we’re really comfortable saying at this particular moment in time.
