Supergirl season 4 episode 8 is set to arrive on The CW Sunday night, and it certainly does feel clear already that this is not your standard episode. For starters, it’s the last proper episode before the Elseworlds crossover begins. Beyond just that, this is one of the first chances that we’ve seen this season to see Brainiac in more of his true self.

The photo above offers up all of the evidence that you need of this, as over the course of this episode, Brainy is going to play a pretty important role that is tied to the story of one Nia Nal. She’s going to realize that she’s having some strange dreams, ones that start to indicate that she may be able to see and understand things from the future. These could be very useful to everything that is going on right now, and that’s why Brainy and others may do their best in order to encourage some of them. (Of course, along the way Brainy is also going to do his best to impress Nia, which is more than likely just going to be hilarious. This character has quickly become one of our favorite parts of this show.)
So how did Nia develop this sort of ability? There are obviously a number of other questions to think about here and it is certainly possible that these will be answered in due time. For now, though, we’re just hoping that this episode allows you an opportunity to see how she can step up and help Team Supergirl in a slightly bigger way. After all, they need all of the help that they can get at the moment. They’re fighting somewhat of a losing battle at the moment with Agent Liberty, who is building an army and, through Ben Lockwood, also getting more and more people on his side. This is mostly a villain of influence rather than one who has to take direct action himself; he realizes that he doesn’t actually need to do all that much himself when there are other people who will cause chaos and do plenty of damage for him.
We do think it’s possible that there will be a less-than-ideal end for Kara in this episode; after all, it seems like her arriving to Clark’s Smallville farm in Elseworlds is going to be a function in part of where she is coming out of this particular episode. She may be looking for either advice or at least some sort of temporary respite from what is going on in National City.
