In the sneak peek below, you can see a trademark Steve and Danny car argument, with this one being about their latest case (and it’s an interesting one) — the death of an apparent vigilante known as Guardian who has been working to make Hawaii safe in his own signature way. This is a comical situation to set up a mystery, and it certainly does make for a good sneak peek.
Here, you learn that Steve was a big fan of Batman, and there is a part of him that understands where Guardian was coming from — there are so many people who have that fantasy. That’s when Danny comes in and throws cold water on him, making it clear that Batman didn’t really do anything other than inherent a bunch of money, which he then used to have fancy cars. From there, we basically get a classic argument as to whether or not Batman is really a superhero — basically, one that has been had in comic shops all over the world. There are some who designate the Dark Knight as just a “hero,” given that he doesn’t have powers. Meanwhile, those who do have powers have that “super” written beforehand. None of this really matters all that much, but who knew that Danny was such a Debbie Downer on people liking superheroes? Just because you’re a grown adult doesn’t mean you have to outgrow a love of Batman.
Anyhow, we do imagine that this episode is going to throw these two characters into more of a comic-book world than either one of them is used to, but we at least have a good sense now as to how the two are going to react. When it comes to Steve, you’ve got someone who may at least be a little bit more sympathetic to their dreams … but still is very much against the idea of these people hitting the streets and trying to make a difference. There’s a reason why Batman is a fictional character; no one human actually possesses all of the skills necessary in order to go out and do precisely what it is that he does.
After watching this sneak peek, the appropriate reaction is rather simple: Even more anticipation for what’s next!
