Sunday night’s upcoming episode seems to be at least a reasonable amount of time following the events of “Common Ground,” at least in that Jamie and Claire are a little bit further along in their attempts to establish a home in North Carolina. We want to start off this photo preview with the image above, largely as a reminder that while there are many moments of conflict throughout every episode, Jamie and Claire’s relationship remains the heart of the series. They are going to fight and have issues, but the idea at this point isn’t to split the two parties up. They care about each other and would do anything for each other. This photo reestablishes that center just like many other photos from past episodes have.
Just remember this photo in the event times get rough.
This photo in some ways does at least hint that there is at least some conflict coming up for Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s characters. If we’re reading body language here, Jamie seems to have done something here that Claire does not altogether approve of, and she wants him to find some sort of way to resolve it and make it better.
Finally, let’s turn to a photo that seems to be hinting in part at the larger story of this hour — Claire working as a healer for some nearby settlers. This is going to become a part of life in North Carolina, as more and more people are eventually going to end up calling this place home. Claire wants to, of course, do her part to help others, but some of these settlers may not be anywhere near as interested in cooperating with some of the local Native American tribes. There will be a battle that spawns over water usage and with that, Jamie and Claire will have to figure out if there is a way to actually keep the peace here. Otherwise, it’s possible that this conflict could completely engulf the entire community and they could be forced to pick a side. That’s the past thing that they should want to do, given that peace and cooperation is really going to be the principal thing to actually making Fraser’s Ridge and the surrounding area successful.
