Outlander season 4 episode 4 sneak peek: Claire worries about Brianna

In the video below via the series’ Canadian broadcaster in W Network, you can see Claire (Caitriona Balfe) express some concern and worry over the status of her daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton), who is now in the present without her. While Claire doesn’t remember too much about her own mother, she missed her dearly at the time in which Brianna was very young — he worries that her daughter would feel the same should she welcome a baby of her own. This is Claire recognizing further that even though Bree welcomed her going back to the past in order to find Jamie, there may still be many a difficult moment she is facing. She still wants to be there for her daughter, though there is no proper way to do so now. It’s hard to really communicate across centuries!
Ultimately, Jamie (Sam Heughan) does his best in order to console his wife in the sneak preview; we’re sure that Jamie would love to be there to support his daughter, as well, though it is certainly rather different when they don’t have anywhere near the same sort of relationship. They don’t actually have one at all, other than what Claire has told her daughter and then also told her husband.
Is all of this foreshadowing in some way?
Perhaps so, given that Roger is going to be calling Brianna (take a look at the episode’s promo) in order to deliver some news regarding the status of her mother. That could spark Bree making some extremely-hard choices when it comes to her own future, which in turn kickstarts one of the most-dramatic stories for this entire character that we’ve seen. She will find herself on a long, difficult road full of events that we don’t quite want to spoil here. Some parts of it could prove encouraging, whereas some others are going to be devastating beyond measure.
For now, let’s just treat this sneak peek as further proof that Jamie wants to be supportive of his wife in just about every way that he possibly can. While there is sure to be a greater meaning to it down the line, we can circle back to it when that starts to be made clear.
