The last time that we saw Joe on the series, Steve McGarrett did everything that he could in order to help him. Moving forward into his next appearance on December 7, we’re going to see the two characters work together on a dangerous mission — one that is very much far away from the islands. “Pio ke kukui, pō‘ele ka hale” – After fighting off an assassin in his own home, McGarrett and Joe White (guest star Terry O’Quinn) flee to Montana to prepare for a battle against those exacting revenge for a past SEAL mission, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, Dec. 7 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Even the photo above does feel different from the standard episode of the show. It’s a sign that we’re going to have an action-packed episode that explores a different side of Steve than we’ve seen for much of the season — it’s one that we’ve seen before, and we certainly do hope that it’s one that we have a chance to see again down the line. The more that we get to know about Steve’s past, the more that we understand who he is present.
Is this the final episode of the year?
We’re hoping not, just because we’d like to see something at least themed around Christmas. This show always does great Halloween episodes — also, we don’t want to see the series go off the air for almost a full month until January. That will be the cast, at least, if this one turns out to be the final one of the year.
The reason for great Hawaii Five-0 holiday episodes is rather simple: This show has a family-like atmosphere with so many characters who work together and contribute to making the team as good has humanly possible. The more that we see these people together at the holidays, the more we get to feel like a part of the family ourselves.
Make no mistake, though, that we are also very happy about the fact that Joe White is back — O’Quinn is always one of our favorite people we get to see on this show’s rotating panel of guest stars. If we get him for at least a couple of episodes a season, we’ll be thrilled.
