Criminal Minds season 14 episode 8: Adam Rodriguez directs ‘Ashley’

Criminal Minds season 13

For those of you who love it when Criminal Minds cast members direct episodes, season 14 episode 8 should be right up your alley. “Ashley” is the title for this installment, and it is being helmed by none other than Adam Rodriguez. This is turning out to be a pretty busy time for Adam — he was just a huge part of the spotlight Luke Alvez episode (fittingly titled “Luke” and directed by Joe Mantegna), and he has also worked behind the scenes on what seems to be a really big episode for David Rossi. After all, Krystall is returning and, in theory, it seems as though David wants to find a way to strengthen the bond that the two have. It may just not go anywhere near as well as he wanted (or we want!).

For a few more details about this episode overall, be sure to take a look at the full Criminal Minds season 14 episode 8 synopsis below:

“Ashley” – The BAU investigates a double homicide and kidnapping in New Hampshire. Also, Rossi’s plans to elevate his relationship with Krystall (Gail O’Grady) don’t go as planned, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Nov. 21(10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Series star Adam Rodriguez directed the episode.

So what should we expect from this episode? A big part of that starts with the name. Ashley is more than likely someone who is important, whether it be to the case or to Rossi in some capacity. There is a character appearing in the episode named Ashley Carson, so conventional wisdom points to them being the primary person we should be watching out for as we dive deeper into this story.

We want to say that this episode is important, but that almost feels like a cliché given that every episode is important given that there are only 15 this season. It is somewhat symbolic that this is the official halfway point of the season; there were seven episodes before it and there are seven episodes after it. We do hope that there are some more big character stories that we will have a chance to dive into during the second half, especially since that seems to be one of the biggest goals that the writers had entering this batch of episodes. They set out to create a more intimate season about these characters that we have grown to love over the years, and that is one of the reasons why it is one of the best seasons that the CBS series has done in a while. This is also a reason why we’ve put it on our Golden Globes wishlist for Drama Series, which you can check out in full over here.
