Blue Bloods season 9 episode 8 photo: Why is Eddie comforting Jamie?

In the past, there have been so many examples of something going wrong for one half of Jamko, and the other half is there in order to pick up the pieces and make them feel a little better. In this episode (entitled “Stirring the Pot”), it is Jamie who is going to be in need of a little bit of support after an incident happens out in the field. The promo for this episode suggests that said incident is intense and potentially-violent, which means that someone could have been injured or worse. Jamie, knowing the huge heart that he has, will probably feel some element of tremendous guilt over it and he’ll even start questioning whether or not it was a good move to give him a promotion to sergeant. He may have thought he was ready, but there is a clear difference between thinking this and actually being in charge when something terrible happens.

This episode for Jamie could be about finding his groove back and realizing that it’s okay to rely on others when things aren’t going well. Eddie’s going to be there for him, even if their work relationship is certainly complicated. She can’t as supportive of him on the job (unless they want to expose their relationship to the public); yet, that can change when they are at home and the two have a chance to spend a little bit more time together. Jamie also has family dinner each week where he will be surrounded by supportive people; alas for him, family dinner isn’t exactly a nightly thing.

At the moment, it seems like Jamko is in the still-figuring-things-out phase of their relationship as an engaged couple. Luckily, it still seems to be going well! There are probably going to be some more bumps in the road just because there always are for couples, but with the right mindset (and they seem to have it), they should be able to take some of these on together and continue to grow. For now, Jamie just needs to concentrate on finding his footing as a sergeant and making sure everyone under him still has confidence in his skills.
