The Walking Dead season 9 episode 6 video: Rosita, Gabriel look ahead

Well, based on the sneak peek below, it feels like one of the potential priorities for some of the remaining survivors is trying to amplify and expand this world. Father Gabriel is insistent on the idea that there is a larger world out there that some of these survivors don’t know a whole lot about, and that’s something Rosita has some concerns about — at least when it comes to the execution of whatever Gabriel is planning. Do we think that she is on board with the idea completely? Not really, mostly because she’s aware that there will be some exceptions elsewhere. Just because there are potentially more people out there doesn’t mean that they are good people — for examples of that, just take a look at what happened with Terminus, Sanctuary, or a wide array of other folks that Rick met during his time on the show.
Could this story be introducing in some ways the Commonwealth? It’s possible, given that this is a part of the comic story we do think The Walking Dead will explore someday. This is a community that is more developed than almost any other that we’ve seen … but could it be a community version of a wolf in sheep’s clothing, or something else quite dangerous to go along with it? That’s VERY well possible.
There is one more thing to consider and think about here: The Whisperers. These people are set to the new threat moving forward, with Samantha Morton set to play the leader in Alpha. Because of all of the hype around Andrew Lincoln’s exit (and understandably so), the story of the Whisperers somehow got buried underneath the rubble. There is going to be a larger chance to touch on this soon — as a matter of fact, the show needs it! That’s especially true depending on what they opt to do with Negan at this point. Given how much time has passed, we absolutely do expect him to be a very different guy than we’ve seen through his run on the show so far. This is why Rick didn’t kill him; he saw stripping him of some of his power as a fate ultimately worse than death.
