Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 8 preview: Can Meredith help Richard?

Grey's Anatomy season 15 episode 6

As we enter Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 8 on ABC in one week’s time, all signs point to a Meredith Grey in crisis. She just learned the truth about Richard Webber’s arrest and, to go along with that, she finds herself in the most-unfortunate position of holding a secret. This is not something Meredith really needs right no –  taking on the burdens of Webber is not a part of the job description.

Moving into next week’s “Blowin’ in the Wind,” she may as well add this to the resume as she tries to wrestle with getting Richard under control, and also whether or not Catherine Avery should be clued in about it all of this. Richard’s ouburts was the end result of extreme stress and not being able to properly contain some of the pain in his life; this is where some of the danger comes when he finally learns that Catherine has cancer and her own life is in peril. It’s another tremendous amount of stress to come, and another reason why this character could eventually end up on a long downward slide towards a very dark path.

For those who are looking for something different, we get it. There needs to be an infusion of some other blood after tonight’s episode leaned heavily on a small handful of characters. Luckily, we can at least confirm that Jo will be back for next week’s episode and, more than likely, others will join her. For the time being though, her presence is the only one confirmed in the attached synopsis:

Seattle is hit by a huge wind storm and Grey Sloan becomes inundated with patients. Alex and Jo are stuck at home and decide to make the best of it by having a second honeymoon, while Meredith confronts Richard about getting his life back on track.

The wind storm seems to be the next phase in a long-running operation that the Grey’s Anatomy writing team has been working on entitled “let’s find new ways to put these characters through relentless stress.” They’ve seen inclement weather before, including thunderstorms and flooding. They’ve also dealt with plane crashes, heartbreak, and significant character deaths. Compared to all of this a wind storm actually feels like almost a big nothing burger … but we are of course saying this without actually seeing the episode play out. Maybe this ends up being one of the most devastating storms out there and there’s actually a reason for us to shake in our boots a little.
