Criminal Minds season 14 episode 6 video: The foundation for Luke Alvez story
Criminal Minds video – If you haven’t seen it yet, we recently reported some of our own expectations for this “Luke” episode which you can check out in the video below! Also, remember here to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for some other updates and also take a look at our show playlist. We have new videos uploaded daily so don’t miss out!
The two sneak peeks released by CBS in advance of this episode (which you can check out below) don’t paint the full picture for just how crazy things are going to get, but they do paint the picture for the overall landscape of this story in general. It begins with a series of murders along the Eastern coast, including some that have ties to witness protection. It’s possible that these are intentional killings by someone who shared a common bond with them, just as it’s also possible that these killings are motivated by an UnSub’s twisted sense of morality. Maybe he or she found out about their true identities and is inflicting some element of moral justice. Or, it’s possible that they were all key witnesses in a crime and were a part of some sort of list.
Is the killer a hitman? Maybe, but Reid pours some cold water on that theory pretty fast.
Here is where everything starts to get a little bit complicated; the crimes eventually find themselves tied back to the DEA and a notable cartel. Over time, you will see Alvez become more personally invested for good reason. This case traces back to an important part of his past prior to him joining the BAU, and it is certainly possible that this is a time period that he did not tell anyone within the BAU about previously. One of the biggest joys for us within this episode will be getting a chance to dive more into Luke’s past … though we’re not sure it’ll be a joy for anyone else in the BAU. Instead, the previews that are out there suggest that it could become a nightmare, as Alvez will eventually go rogue and the story may build to a point where the BAU is forced to arrest him themselves. As for what could get him to that point, let’s just give you two words: It’s personal. Luke’s not a man who bails on his squad and the BAU is built up of friends and mentors. He wouldn’t just flip or disobey orders unless there was a pretty darn good reason to do so.
Grab your tissues. Get nervous. Above all else, just get ready for what should be a pretty stellar hour of television coming up tonight especially since this is directed by Joe Mantegna! He is a force to be reckoned with behind the camera, so the one two punch of Mantegna’s direction on an episode that is going to be as personal as this one is going to be generating a lot of fan discussion tonight – which is exactly what we need with Criminal Minds right now.
Excited for tonight’s Criminal Minds episode, or are you more shaking nervously that something terrible could happen to Luke? (Remember that with name episodes, characters don’t exactly tend to get out of the weeds quickly.) Share in the comments. (Photo: CBS.)
