Yet, it could also be danger of his own making. In the promo below, you can see that Alvez does something that leads to Emily Prentiss wondering as to whether or not he has gone rogue. Given that Luke is one of the best agents around, it is fair to wonder if there is something more going on here behind the scenes — something personal. For Alvez to go away from orders and do his own thing isn’t what we know this guy to do.
What we want from this episode is rather simple — more answers when it comes to Luke’s past, and also a better understanding as to why he would go rogue and what this means in terms of his future with the team. We also don’t necessarily need this to be the sort of story that is wrapped up after a single hour — many of the other name episodes that we’ve seen for Criminal Minds over time have been ones that actually made an impact longer than a single episode. Hopefully, such is also going to be the case. Adam Rodriguez deserves some room to deliver an excellent performance, and that has been a recurring theme on the series for quite some time.
In general, can we just go ahead and say that this season is completely killing it so far? In terms of character development, we appreciate that most of the agents have had something to do both inside the office and also out.
