Criminal Minds season 14 episode 6 preview: Joe Mantegna directs Luke’s story

Criminal Minds season 14 episode 6

Criminal Minds season 16 episode 6 carries with it the title of “Luke,” and that says a lot in terms of what’s coming up. If there’s one thing that we’ve come to know about Criminal Minds over the years, it is that if they name an installment after a key character, bad things are going to happen to that person. They may be able to get through it, but that doesn’t mean they will be able to avoid all sorts of repercussions from it. Episodes named after characters worry us, but it also excites us because it means there a really good story coming up.

Below, CarterMatt has the full Criminal Minds season 16 episode 6 synopsis — including news on a notable director — with some details about the story:

“Luke” – The BAU heads to Bethesda, Md., to investigate four murders in the span of three days along the eastern seaboard. The crimes become personal for Alvez, when the team discovers there are ties to his time spent five years ago working alongside the DEA and the Mexican police force in pursuit of the most notorious hitman in Mexico. Also, Alvez and his girlfriend, Lisa (guest star Daniella Alonso), decide to move in together, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Nov. 7 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Series star Joe Mantegna directed the episode.

Let’s make one thing clear beyond all of this — we have a hard time imagining that this show is going to be wrapping up everything with Luke within a single episode. Typically what happens with name episodes is that there’s an emotional aftermath that lasts for an episode or two to follow. For Derek Morgan, all of it led to his exit. Meanwhile, for Spencer Reid, he ended up spending a good bit of time behind bars. All we know is that with Mantegna behind the camera as director, we know this is going to be good. He has already directed one other episode this season.
