Where is this new iteration of this man? Well, Tani discovers him back in his house, looking rough and drinking heavily. He tells her some particularly bad news when it comes to his marriage to Kono: It’s over. The two of them simply grew apart due to what happened over the past year. Kono has become consumed with her job, and Adam found himself struggling to get over what he took on last year, especially with Jessie’s death and his role in everything.
This is an Adam who is definitely worse for wear; yet, it’s also an Adam who has a gun in his bag, and Tani remembers very clearly what she’s uncovered in terms of what happened to his sister. How comfortable can she be being in the same place as him? Not very, and all of this feels rather ominous when it comes to Adam’s future. (Yet, we also refuse to accept the idea that Adam would have done something to go back to prison after everything that happened with him the first time around. He’s in a bad place now, but we like to think he’s not going to stoop to that level.)
For everyone who does love Dale’s work as an actor, at least you can rest assured that this will be an excellent episode for him. The next several could be as we start to assess both where this guy is and also where he could be going moving forward.
