Legacies episode 2 sneak peek: Hope’s discussion with Emma Tig

Legacies

Legacies episode 2 is airing on The CW on Thursday night and based on the sneak peek below, the stakes are still high.

This preview effectively introduces you to an important new character in Dr. Emma Tig (Karen David), who is going to be responsible for offering up a sort of therapy to Hope and others at the Salvatore School. She’s someone who wants to get through to Hope, but the problem here is that Hope clearly does not want to be there. Instead, she’s more interested in doing whatever she can to capture Landon Kirby following his escape. She feels responsible for what happened to him, and understands how devastating it would be if information started to spread about the Salvatore School to normal people.

So what’s the larger purpose of this preview? Beyond just introducing us to the Emma Tig character, a good bit of it has to do with understanding the function of black magic around the school. Hope used some of it in order to ensure that she could track down Landon, and she clearly knew in doing so that she would eventually be called out for her decision to use it. That happened, but she had assumed that she would have been able to bring him in before facing any consequences of it. That didn’t happen, and she is now left in a position where she has to explain herself … and also lie as to whether or not she wants any help from others. We don’t know if this is a secret that Hope can keep buried forever, but it proves she’s a good friend. She doesn’t want other people to fall on the sword because of some decisions that she made.

Think of this preview as a foundation for what could end up being a season-long story; while we imagine that there will be some clues as to where Landon is and who he is, the writers may take some time before giving us all of the answers.
