Unfortunately, the Doctor Who season 11 episode 5 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below does not offer up all that much in the way of answers:
Injured and stranded in the wilds of a far-flung galaxy, the Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan must band together with a group of strangers to survive against one of the universe’s most deadly – and unusual – creatures.
That doesn’t exactly give you a precisely answer, does it? We do think that there are nonetheless two different theories worth considering.
1. The Tsuranga is some sort of monster – It’s very well possible that this is the deadly creature that is being discussed here, and that makes sense why there would be such a conundrum about it. (We do have to be honest here: “The Tsuranga Conundrum” sounds a little bit like a title for The Big Bang Theory.)
2. Tsuranga is the name of the planet being visited – This also makes a certain degree of sense, given that it seems like Doctor Who is not prioritized revisiting familiar places or seeing new creatures this season.
No matter what the title means, we are seeing Doctor Who with this episode continue to oscillate around various types of stories. In episode 3, for example, we saw something a bit more historical with Rosa Parks. Meanwhile, episode 4 is bringing us back to the UK and introducing a monster-movie element courtesy of spiders. Now, episode 5 is taking you off Earth entirely for a very different sort of mission. All in all, this is a series that is trying to bring a lot of different elements to the table.
