Last Man Standing season 7: Molly McCook talks audience reaction to date

As we’ve been stating at CarterMatt for a good while now, it was bound to be a rough transition for the actress at first. It’s not easy replacing someone in a role that was featured on TV for years, especially when there is little physical resemblance between her and original Mandy Molly Ephraim. Yet, we also thought it would get easier over time as people grew accustomed to the role and also saw more of McCook’s comedic talent in the role. It’s an adjustment, but both Mollys have brought their own take to the character and we think that they both do work in their own way.
McCook did make it clear, though, that taking on this already-established role was not an easy thing to do on the surface. Speaking via Country Living, she made it clear that “At first, I took it pretty personally … But the hardcore fans of the show have been extremely supportive.” We certainly agree with that, as many diehard fans have been nothing but warm and welcoming to McCook since coming on board.
Molly also revealed in this interview that she and Molly Ephraim have had a discussed the show, and they seem to be very much supportive of each other. Ephraim has chosen to be rather quiet about her exit from the show, opting instead to focus on her own projects; she also eventually deleted her Twitter account this fall amidst backlash over leaving.
In the end, this feels like onwards and upwards — McCook is happy, Ephraim’s doing some other cook things, and Last Man Standing is still going strong.
